SERMON NOTES:

The Sword of the Spirit is the Word and it is to be used defensively.

In Ephesians, the armor that's referenced first focuses internally - the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with readiness, the helmet of salvation. The only offensive piece of armor is to be used when the enemy is in our face.

The Sword of the Spirit connects the Holy Spirit to the Word and isn't used to destroy. The battle is not against flesh but against the enemy and lies. The goal is to stand firm in faith, not to acclaim power. We stand. Not charge after.

In order for the Word to protect us from the lies that target us constantly, we must know the Word.
